Should update this more frequently...

Sat Mar 28, 2009, 6:49 PM
I guess I'm bad at this whole journal thing huh? So much has happened since I last updated, but I'll only go over the events that are photography/art related. I finished my Year 12 photography folio with full marks on every part (something of which I was very proud of). I worked really hard on it, so I'm glad all that hard work payed off. I still have some images to add from that folio, specifically the photos of Little Red Riding Hood and Snow White (apart of the photoshoots I did for my theme of 'Fairytales and Other Stories';). So keep your eye out for them.

Something incredibly exciting (for me at least) has happened to me in the past few months. I got into a photography college in Melbourne (Photography Studies College) and will study photography there next year for three years. It's a private college, so unfortunately there isn't much fee help, so I have to save up the money for my tuition, but thankfully they give students the option of paying off their fees monthly. My mother and nana have so kindly offered to help me save because it's obvious to them that this college could quite possibly be the college of my dreams. But I'm in, I have my place and that's all that matters. I seriously can't wait to go to this school!

Journal Update

Thu Jul 17, 2008, 5:55 PM
Wow, it's been ages since I've updated my journal on here so I thought that it was time for an update. This year in year 12 photography has been AMAZING. For all this year my photography class has been working hard on their major folio's. It's been very time consuming, I must admit, but I have learnt alot and have discovered that photography is my passion and that photography is what I want to continue on with once I've graduated high school.

I've gotten alot of good images that I'm really happy with and have developed a folio over the course of the year that I'm proud of. I found out what result I got on the first part of my folio two days ago. I got 30/30! Full marks! I was pleasantly surprised considering I left alot of my work until the last minute, but apparently my hard work payed off. Discovering this has made me extremely motivated to continue learning the art form of photography.

My theme for my folio was originally 'Magic' and then I developed it to 'Fairyales and Other Stories', which is why you may see some familiar characters in my gallery. There are still many photos that I need to add, so keep on the look out for them. Comments and such would be great, feedback helps me improve.

I should update this journal more often...I'm going to try and post at least once a month. Stay tuned!

Journal Update

Whoa! It's been ages since I posted one of these, so thought I better post a journal update. Well in my previous journal I mentioned that I was working on my SLR folio. It turned out great! My theme was death and mourning (OMG so emo! *rolls eyes*), I got one of my best friends to model for me and she looked gorgeous. The negatives that I produced turned out really clear, which was definitely a good thing because that meant I didn't have to spend that much time in the dark room. Anyway, I got another A+ for it! I was so happy, seeing as I do so much better at digital photography and sometimes don't have te patience for analog photography. I felt accomplished. =]

For my final exam, we had to annotate a few photographs by well known photographers using elements and principals as well as annotate one of our own images that we produced during the year. I annotated the photo I have on my Deviant called Pay Day and my teacher was really impressed.

Well I got my semester 2 report on the 30th of November and I was estatic when I saw that I had recieved my best mark EVER in my schooling life. I recieved straight A+'s and an award of excellence in photography! I was so happy with my report and myself for working so hard all year to recieve that result.

Well I thought you might like to know what I got on my pirate themed folio. It got marked ages ago (now I'm doing SLR) but oh well. Anyway, I got an A+! 23/25!! And my teacher is a really hard marker when it comes to marking our folios! =D I'm pretty proud actually. =]

Pirate Photo Shoot

Sat Aug 25, 2007, 11:07 PM
Well I thought it was about time I went into a little more detail about my work, in particular, the pirate photo shoot. This photo shoot was for my photography class. The class was split up, half of us would be doing SLR photography (not my strongest point) and the other half would be doing digital photography, which thankfully I discovered that I would be doing digital first.

I brain stormed for a week or so deciding on what I wanted to take photos of. We had to think of a theme and go with it. I thought of quite alot of ideas that either related to me in some way or would give me alot to work with. Eventually I chose pirates as my theme because I've been fascinated with pirates since the first ';Pirates of the Caribbean' film came out and basically it would give me an excuse to go to the beach for the day.

Over the holidays I began developing my ideas and writing my work brief explaining what I was going to try and do on the day of my photo shoot. I collected inspiration from various photographers (some on deviant art) and annotated them while I collected props and such for the photo shoot.

I asked my friend Samm (Samantha) to come to the beach with me and my family on the day of the photo shoot and I asked her to dress as a pirate, I already had the costume prepared so she didn't have to do any work except acting like a pirate. On the day of the photo shoot I took about 306 photos altogether, it was freezing cold on that day but it was so worth it.

I am currently in the process of deciding on my finals to present to my teacher and I really hope that I get a good mark.
